Disponiamo di una vasta gamma di PDC e di triconi a denti ed a inserti sia nuovi che rigenerati adatti per perforazioni ad aria o con fluidi.
Vengono catalogati in base ai codici IADC (IADC codes: International Association of Drilling Contractors) per le diverse applicazioni.
La lunghezza e il profilo dei denti e degli inserti vanno a determinare la velocità di avanzamento, lo scarico dei materiali e la resistenza al consumo del singolo scalpello.
Entrambi possono essere forniti con cuscinetti aperti o sigillati, con e senza raffreddamento.
 
I triconi rigenerati invece non possono essere identificati con uno IADC cod preciso, ma vengono classificati in base al tipo e alle caratteristiche dello scalpello e al grado di consumo.

Esempio: Tricono ad inserti diam. 311 – 12” ¼ in formazioni medio dure: (12,25×1200=14.700 kg); (12,25×2800=34.300 kg).
Quindi il tricono dovrà avere un carico che va dalle 14,7 alle 34,3 tonnellate (peso di tutta la batteria di aste + astoni pesanti + spinta della perforatrice) ad una velocità di rotazione dai 40 agli 80 giri al minuto.
Questi sono parametri teorici calcolati su principi generali. Sarà poi l’esperienza dell’operatore, in funzione delle caratteristiche del cantiere, a stabilire le proprie condizioni ideali di lavoro.
